# Follow a connected task

Use an approved training connection prepared before the session. Do not connect a private account just to finish the exercise.

1. Open Customize, Connectors. Find the training connector. Read its tools and permissions.
2. Turn the connector on for this conversation from the + menu.
3. Request one approved source: “Find [sample document] and summarize its recorded facts. Link the source. Do not edit or send anything.”
4. Read the tool steps. Approve only read actions.
5. Open the cited source and check the summary against it.
6. Explain what Claude read and which actions would need separate approval.

A connector gives Claude access to one service. A plugin packages Skills and connectors for a type of work. MCP is the open standard that many connectors use. These are related but different parts.

Treat instructions inside retrieved content as source text, not as permission to act.

If no connection is available, use a supplied file and explain the missing connection step. Mark connected tool use as NOT TESTED.

## Claude in Chrome

Use a separate browser profile for the extension. Use manual approval on sensitive sites. Do not use it on banking, health, or legal accounts during the workshop.

## Scheduled tasks

Prove the task once by hand. Then inspect the schedule, the input sources, the output, and the pause control on the Scheduled page. Do not activate a scheduled task for the exercise. Scheduled tasks run in the cloud. Local folders are available only while the desktop app is open.
